This new modification for Team Fortress 2 looks pretty cool. It reminds me of the old “hide and seek” modification from Team Fortress Classic. But this TF2 version has a twist. Players hide as objects in plan view.

When you see a dead dog on the side of the road and say “hey, thats a dead dog.” Does someone ask you “why do you think the dog is dead?” Lets see, it smells like a dead dog, it looks like a dead dog, its bloated like a dead dog – so it must be a dead dog.
If something looks and acts the part, it usually is that object.
Lets take a rock as another example. A rock just sits there, it does not eat, it does not sleep, it does not drink, it does not pee, poop, move, talk, walk, reproduce or anything else that says the rock is anything but a rock.
In my opinion – Team Fortress 2 is like a dead dog, its bloated and it stinks.
tf2 is a team fortress game in name alone. It has departed so far from what “Team Fortress” is supposed to be about, its no longer a real team fortress game.
Its like calling basketball football. Basketball is not football, its basketball. tf2 is not team fortress, its some whole other game that is loosely based off of team fortress.
One of the points of Team Fortress is that each class has a strength and a weakness. This forced the players to work together as a team. The characters in TF2 are so over balanced their is no need for team work.
Team Fortress 2 is becoming more and more like a role playing game. When developers introduce unlockable weapons in a game, that adds a touch of role playing.
Valve should rename Team Fortress 2 and stop bringing shame to the Team Fortress community.
The first name that comes to mind is “Team Fortress Wannabe Bloatware. Yea, I think that name pretty much sums it up.
If you want to play a “REAL” Team Fortress game, go play Fortress Forever.
Team Fortress 2 started development somewhere around 1999 shortly after the release of Team Fortress Classic. Short video clips and screen shots were being released by Valve software, and just months before the game was “supposed” to be released, everything went quiet.
Finally, about 9 years after development started, TF2 was released in October of 2007.

The problem is, TF2 is not really a Team Fortress game, its more of a role playing, first person shooter game, that has traces of Team Fortress in it. But the traces are mostly in name alone. Its not TEAMROOMBAs fault that the people at Valve Software slaughtered the name of “Team Fortress”. But it is their fault for falling for a game that does not hold true to what TF is all about.
If you want to experience a real Team fortress game, go play Fortress Forever.
The problem is, most of the people that play TF2 are noobs to the Team Fortress community. Watch this video about even Hitler hates TF2 to get a feel for what the old school community thinks.
The classes are overly balanced, no grenades, special unlockable weapons like in a role playing game,,, the list goes on and on.

Quake Team Fortress – While filming the footage for the video, I could not find a Quakeworld Team Fortress server that was running the original skin, so this one had to do. The original QWTF sentry gun had a brown looking skin and did not look anything like that black one. Out of all of the team fortress versions, the QWTF sentry gun was probably the most lethal.
Team Fortress Classic – Was easy to build and upgrade, but did not seem to be ask lethal as the QWTF version. The TFC sentry gun can be rotated right and left, but not up or down.
Fortress Forever – Is maybe the most fun version and maybe has the best design. This thing is small, can be built just about anywhere, and can be aimed exactly where the engineer wants it. When a cloaked spy gets close to this sentry gun, it starts beeping. That way a cloaked spy is not going to sneak up on the engineer and his gun.
Team Fortress 2 – Due to the cloaking ability of the spy and the sapper, this sentry gun is on the weak side. Its a good gun, but doe to the over balancing of the classes, its almost useless against a good spy.

This video about Team Fortress 2 reflects what a lot of old school players have been saying for a long time. TF2 has moved away from what a real Team Fortress game is supposed to be about. The characters are overly balanced, the game looks like a cartoon, and some people say its turning into a role playing game because of the unlockable weapons.
The discontent about TF2 is something that the community wants to keep hidden – for whatever reason. This is just my opinion, but I think that a lot of TF2 fans just go along with the herd mentality. That TF2 was made by Valve, so it “has” to be good. And that is a load of crap. Just because a product is made by a certain company does not “magically” make it great, or even good.
When TF2 was released, a lot of people that bought it had never played a Team Fortress game before. So they think that TF2 is a “real” Team Fortress game. Well guys – its not. Even though those people might have been playing TF2 for a long time, their still Team Fortress Noobs.
How can someone with no experience on a topic offer an opinion on it? They can’t. To offer a real opinion on a topic, you need some kind of experience and knowledge.

When Quakeworld Team Fortress (QWTF) was released, a buddy of Kevins (a player by the name of Acid Breath) told him about it. That was in late 1996. Team Fortress 2 Classic (TF2C) is a modification for Team Fortress 2 that attempts to bring back the glory days of Team Fortress Classic (TFC). If the developers are going to take the time to combine TF2 and TFC, why not just play Fortress Forever (FF)?
Lets go back in time 2 years to when TF2 was released. Most of the tf2 players were glad that the grenades were removed. One of the main reasons was because of the grenade spam. But chances are – most of the people saying that had never played Quakeworld Team Fortress, TFC or FF. I personlly remember being in several TF2 games when the topic of TFC came up. Several of the players made the statement – “there are other versions of Team Fortress?” Well yea, where do you think the “2″ comes from? Since a lot of TF2 players had never played any other version of Team Fortress, they have no real experience to base their opinions on.
So how can players really say that they were glad grenades had been removed, when they had never played with grenades – they can’t. To be able to voice an opinion on something you need some kind of experience on the matter. And a lot of TF2 players, TF2 is the only version of Team Fortress they have ever played.
When TF2 was released, players were glad there were no grenades, players were glad there was no bunny hopping, players were glad the classes was overly balanced, players were glad that capture the flag (CTF) was no longer the focus, players were glad to see a bunch of cap point maps and only 1 or 2 CTF maps,,,,. Overall, it seemed that TF2 was the best Team Fortress game to ever be released. Were the majority of the players really “that” happy? Or, were they just going with the crowd and only repeating what others had said?
My personal opinion on the matter – most of the TF2 players that said they “loved the game”, were just going along with the crowd. Its called peer pressure. They were just repeating what others said so they were not ridiculed be the other players.
There has been a lot of complaints that TF2 is turning into a role playing game with its unlockable weapons. The classes are moving further and further away from their traditional roles. The people saying this stuff were usually discredited and ridiculed.
Most people do not want to stand out, they do not want to have fingers pointed at them and others say “your stupid for saying that.” So the crowd mentality kicks in, people keep their mouth shut and just go along with the crowd.
Valve software has released another update to Team Fortress 2. This time the updates include:
Team Fortress 2
* Added a “Discard” button to the item pickup panel.
* Added a backstab custom death animation to the Heavy.
* Changed default for tf_arena_use_queue to 1. This was the original behavior prior to the last update.
* Changed the Dead Ringer so it can be activated while carrying the flag.
* Increased the Force-A-Nature’s damage by 10%.
* Fixed not being able to reflect arrows with the Flamethrower.
* Fixed The Huntsman drawing a muzzle flash under lagged conditions.
* Fixed the background color of the Spy disguise panel not always matching his disguise team.
* Fixed idle players being kicked when the server has tf_arena_use_queue set to 0.

The recent Team Fortress 2 spy updates brought some changes to the game. Some of the changes are welcome, but some are not. From the looks of the video it appears the one shot face stab kill is still there. But I’am not 100% sure about that.
